3. WiFi Long Range (LR) Mode (beta)

  • Protocol: AeroTel Proprietary LR (802.11 LR)

  • Encryption: WPA2-PSK

  • Range: Extended (up to 1km+ Line of Sight)

This is a specialized mode that trades data bandwidth for significantly increased range. It uses a lower physical layer data rate to maintain a robust link over longer distances.

  • Requirement: You need two AeroTel-24 modules.

    • Air Unit: Set to WiFi Access Point LR Mode.

    • Ground Unit: Set to WiFi Client Mode.

    • USB-TTL converter for Ground Unit.

  • Invisibility: Standard devices (phones/laptops) cannot see or connect to the module in this mode because they do not support the LR protocol.

  • Use Case: Medium-range missions where standard WiFi falls short, but a continuous link is required.
