PX4

PX4 firmware automatically detects AeroNAV-1 and compass on boot.

1. Connection

  • Plug directly into GPS1 port on Pixhawk-standard boards.

  • No changes needed in the wiring.

2. Check GNSS

  • In QGroundControl > Analyze > GPS, verify:

    • Satellites: > 20

    • Fix: 3D or RTK Float (if using RTK version and base)

    • SNR values per satellite

3. Compass Check

  • Navigate to QGC > Sensors > Compass

  • PX4 will show the onboard magnetometer as external

  • Run compass calibration if this is the first boot

4. Optional Manual Settings

  • GPS_1_CONFIG → UBX (optional override)

  • GPS_1_BAUD → 115200

  • CAL_MAG0_EN → 1 (enable magnetometer)

  • CAL_MAGx_ROT → ROT_AUTODETECT or manually if mounted off-axis
